Metal Detector Nerd is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
What that means in practice
When you click a "check current price" button or a product link on this site and go on to buy something, this site may receive a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your wallet.
Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" and open in a new tab. A disclosure appears near the top of every review and buying guide, above the first affiliate link on the page.
Other programs
Alongside Amazon, this site may participate in affiliate programs run by specialist metal-detecting retailers and by detector manufacturers directly. The same rules apply to all of them: disclosed, marked, and never a factor in a rating.
Why prices are never printed here
You won't find a hard price on any product page. That's partly an Amazon program requirement and partly common sense — detector prices move constantly, and a stale number is worse than no number. Every product links out so you can see the live price yourself.
Where a price band is mentioned ("entry-level", "mid-range", "premium"), it's there for context about where a machine sits in the market, not as a quoted price.
How this affects our reviews
It doesn't. Ratings follow the published rubric on the How We Test page, and commission rates are not one of the criteria.
The easiest way to check that claim is to read the recommendations: the top pick in several buying guides here is the cheapest capable machine in its category, and more than one review tells you to buy a rival instead. A commission-maximizing site would not do that.
